Providing education to underprivileged children

Nagrik Manch Barbigha runs schools for underprivileged children with the belief that education is the vehicle to help poor families out of poverty. They aim to equip children with literacy and skills that can enable them to gain employment and bring financial relief to their families.

The aim of education should be to bring changes not only in the amount of knowledge gained but also in the abilities to do so. In our endeavor to improve the quality of education imparted through the non formal sector we aim and work for:

  • Achieving 100% School enrolment and retention

  • Promoting girl child education

  • Capacitating teachers to be effective as facilitators of learning

  • Promoting the culture of reading

  • Equipping children with skills for life

  • Providing conducive learning environment

Blood Donation camps.png

Blood Donation camps

Blood donation camps are organized by Nakrik Manch to spread awareness of blood donation amongst the people. Lives can only be saved if we have enough blood for the transfusion. NMB spreads awareness of Health benefits of donating blood which prevents hemochromatosis. After a person donates blood, the body will replenish the blood loss by stimulating the production of new blood cells which lowers cancer risk and improves health of heart and liver.

Supporting labor rights

Labor laws (also known as labor laws or employment laws) are those that mediate the relationship between workers, employing entities, trade unions, and the government. Collective labor law relates to the tripartite relationship between employee, employer, and union. It helps to ensure that workers and employers have an equal voice in negotiations and provides workers the opportunity to seek to improve their living and working conditions.

Nagrik manch takes care of the following:

Right to be paid equally

Right to be paid the minimum wages for organized and scheduled Work

Basic rights of employees to recover the unpaid wages

The major contributing factor to reduced learning capabilities in children is directly impacted by health and nutrition. Evidence in India has shown that food insecurity during childhood reduced reading capability and numeracy scores while resulting in depleting short-term memory. Mid-day meals are a great incentive to bring children back to school and a means to keep their nutritional levels in check. Nutritious meals help children concentrate in class and help in eliminating classroom hunger. Nagrik Manch serves mid-day meals to school children in government and government-aided schools of Bihar.

Nagrik Manch also aims at motivating and enabling rural communities toward water harvesting and conservation. It has facilitated the construction of check dams and many other water harvesting structures to enable better drinking water and sanitation facilities at various villages.

NMB plays a vital role in mobilizing bodies and institutions related to water and agriculture by helping to create communities or committees at the village level which can keep check on the Ground Level Reservoirs and the PHED pipelines to avoid damage and water wastage.
